Nichole and Krys are the ultimate adventurous couple, making them a perfect fit for Mountain House on Sunday River, a rustic wedding venue in Maine that boasts stunning mountain views. Nichole and Krys fell in love through running together around Back Bay Cove in Portland, Maine, and by going on little hikes, so it only seemed fitting that Krys proposed on the top of Bradbury Mountain with their fur-baby Max by their side. Even though Bradbury Mountain was where they had one of the first dates Nichole said she never saw the proposal coming. They decided to marry in September so they could soak in the beautiful fall foliage of Maine while still enjoying the warm weather.
Their love of the Maine mountains is also what prompted the couple to choose Mountain House as their venue. Nestled in the foothills of the beautiful White Mountains, Mountain House on Sunday River has breathtaking views of the Sunday River Peaks and the Mahoosuc Mountain Range. Mountain House also has expansive meadows which were perfect for Nichole and Krys’ outdoor ceremony and a great place for them to set up fun lawn games for their outdoorsy guests. Comfortable onsite accommodations in a refurbished farmhouse and a lodge made the whole place feel like home on their wedding day. The couple took full advantage of all parts of the property, having their ceremony in the meadow, their first look pictures in the Pine Cathedral and their reception in the breeze barn, which has one side that opens onto a beautiful patio deck perfect for dancing.
Nichole confesses they did everything by hand, from the desserts to the table runners. This DIY wedding wouldn’t have been possible without the help from all of Nichole and Krys’ family and friends. But she said that’s what made their day so special, “it was the scenery and the people that made everything so easy and perfect.” Their day was made complete by heartfelt vows said to the background of gently falling misty rain, which the bride said made everything even more romantic. They ended their big day dancing under the stars surrounded by family and friends while listening to the Mallet Brothers Band play on Mountain House’s breeze barn- this wedding was a dream come true.
