Tiffanie and Matthew met through mutual friends while attending college in Colorado. After dating for nearly three years, they started discussing possible wedding plans. Tiffanie had a dream to be married on the her family’s farm in Texas. In fact, it seemed she was set on it. During a visit to Tiffanie’s family in Texas, Matthew went to the family farm, and with some help from Tiffanie’s dad, Matthew proposed to Tiffanie on the farm, much to her surprise and delight! They decided to get married on the exact spot where Matthew had proposed!
The farm, located in Tennessee Colony, Texas, is a sprawling 90 acres of rolling hills, three ponds, a creek and a small cabin. The property has been in Tiffanie’s family for more than 100 years! The location of the wedding/proposal site was Tiffanie’s great great great grandparents homestead. Though the structure is no longer there, there are very old crepe myrtles, the homestead well site, and other trees her ancestors planted. They were married underneath these trees.
The couples says:
It was the perfect spot for our intimate country wedding. We kept things simple, and homespun. Our parents, friends, and families were immensely helpful. They helped to prepare the site, cooked barbecue, beans and pies, and operated the hayride from the road up to the homestead. It was our perfect day, shared with our family, in a location rich with family history.
Immediately after the proposal, Tiffanie’s parents began to plant bluebonnets and wildflowers around the wedding site. Unfortunately, these flowers came up in only a limited quantity. But then, a few days before the wedding, the fields burst into a brilliant yellow of unplanted wildflowers! The transformation of the hay fields into a burst of color was so beautiful and seemed incredibly miraculous. Special things of the wedding included Tiffanie’s gown, which was hand-made by her mom, hand-painted signage, bride and groom manikins at the gate, open-air dining, mason jar pies, real silverware wrapped in homespun napkins, hay rides, and outdoor games like kite flying, horseshoes, croquet, and a beanbag toss.
Congratulations to the happy couple and a big thanks to Jennifer Willard Photography for sharing these wonderful images and details about the wedding day!
